2 Things To Do If You Have A Rodent Problem

Posted on

If you have noticed that you have nasty little rodents wandering around your house, then you want to do everything you can to get rid of them. While pet rats and mice are one thing, wild rats and mice are a completely different issue. They get into your food and leave their droppings everywhere. So, what can you do to get rid of them?

Find Their Entrance

One thing you can do is to figure out where they are coming in at. It may be that someone left a door open and the rodent snuck in, but it's more likely that there is a hole somewhere that they are using to get in and out of your house. It doesn't have to be a very big hole since rats and mice can sneak into a very small space. It may take you some time to carefully look around both inside and outside to see if there are any holes. If you find any, then you are going to want to block them up. You may want to consider putting some metal mesh or screening over the hole before you seal it up. That will make it harder for anything to chew through that hole to get back into your house.

Call an Exterminator

Another thing you can do is to call a pest control service. They will be able to come in, find where the nest may be, and set up traps. The exterminator may be able to help you pinpoint where the rats or mice are coming in if you haven't been able to find their entrance on your own. They can help you seal it up, and may also put some traps around that entrance to make sure that they catch any rodents that are trying to use that spot to get in or out of your house. The exterminator can put down various kinds of traps in places where rodents like to frequent. Then they can come to check them and remove the traps either on a particular schedule or when you hear that the traps have gone off or are full if you chose for them to use live traps.

No one wants to have rodents running wild around their house. If you see that you have rats or mice wandering around, then you need to take care of the problems as soon as possible so it doesn't get worse.
