Signs You Need Pest Control Services

Posted on

Pests are always a nuisance in residences. They come in all forms and are difficult to control using home remedies. So, if you notice signs of an infestation, you'll have to involve an exterminator. Here are the common signs that your home needs pest control services.

Pest Droppings

Homes infested with pests will have droppings. The most noticeable droppings come from rats. You can always find them in cabinets, crawl spaces, basements, and attics. Pest control experts can help you determine what type of pests you are dealing with. After that, they decide what pest control method they'll use. Ignoring the presence of pest droppings is risky because pests are notorious for multiplying pretty quickly.

Strange Sounds

Have you been hearing weird sounds in your kitchen, attic, pantry, or basement? Are the sounds more prominent at night? If yes, you are most likely dealing with rodents. Mice and rats are notorious for making noise as they scavenge for food. They will mostly make scratching, scuttling, squeaking, or whining sounds.

The noises become louder when the rodents have younger ones. Other pests that make sounds are termites. Their noises are a bit faint but noticeable.

Weird Odor

Another sign that you are dealing with pest infestations is when you notice weird smells. Rodents will always leave behind a scent similar to that of urine. If you notice hints of oil, you might be dealing with cockroaches.

If bed bugs infest your home, you'll often notice a slightly sweet or acidic smell. Some say that the odor is similar to that of raspberries or cilantro. So, if you notice any of the above smells, it's good to call an expert to determine the type of pests inhabiting your residence.

Nest Sightings

Most if not all pests have nests where they sleep or give birth. For ants, you might find anthills around your home. Hornets, bees, and wasps will also make their nests around the chimney or ceiling. To locate nests, you have to check the most hidden spots in and around your home. This can be behind appliances, in attics, walls, or crevices.

Damaged Fabric

Another sign of pests in your house is gnawed fabric. So, if you notice your mattress, rug, pillows, or sofa arms have torn spots, you will likely have mice lurking around your home. Sometimes the damage will appear in the form of scratch marks or holes. You might also want to look for stains and smears on the clothing you have stored away in closets or drawers.

If you notice two or more signs discussed above, don't hesitate to contact a pest control company like Paffy's Pest Control.
