Bed Bugs In Your Home? Where To Start To Exterminate Them

Posted on

Bed bugs can pop up in any home. They can simply appear one day, having been brought in by something new such as a piece of furniture or clothing, or they could have been brought in on your luggage after a trip, or even brought in from another person's home. If you have bed bugs in your home, it doesn't really matter where they came from; what matters now is that you do something about them quickly in order to get rid of them. You need to start exterminating these pests right away. Read on for helpful information to get you started.

Identify Where These Pests Are

You need to identify where these pests are located in your home. If you have only seen signs of them in one room for instance, they may be contained to just one room, which can make getting rid of them easier. If you have seen them in other rooms, you need to take a close look to be sure of exactly where they are located to be sure they have not infested all of the rooms in your home. If you see signs of them everywhere, you need to hire a pest control company to get rid of these pests. A whole house infestation can be difficult to get rid of, and using a professional is important.

Spray Your Home

Spray the rooms of your home thoroughly with a pesticide spray, paying close attention to the baseboards around your home. You can also sprinkle a pesticide such as diatomaceous earth to help kill these pests. Sprinkle the pesticide around your home in the rooms where you have seen signs of them. Diatomaceous earth can be effective, as it is non-toxic to humans and animals, but insects that crawl through them will dehydrate and die after going into the pesticide.

Vacuum Often

Vacuum your home often to help kill these pests as well. Vacuuming them with the vacuum cleaner won't exactly kill them, but once you empty the canister into a plastic bag that you seal, it will suffocate them, and they will eventually die in the bag. You should vacuum your home daily until you are rid of these pests. Vacuum your carpeting and your upholstered furniture as well.

If you have bed bugs, you may not know where to begin to exterminate them. If you are not able to get rid of them on your own, you should hire a professional bed bug exterminator to help you.
